Abstract: Geological prospecting of petroleum has been carried on over the whole country since 1955 and resulted in the discovery of a series of important oil and gas fields.This paper summarizes the experience of practice which had been proved to be successful as well as some of the theoretical aspects which served as guiding principles. As a second-turn countrywide prospecting work is now being planned, some suggestions are made here with the aim of gaining still greater progress.
