Abstract: Hydrocarbon fingermarks, chemical compositions and isotope analyses of different components for the natural gas in West Lake depression are applied to identify its physical and chemical characters,maturity and gas source rocks. Furthermore the directions along which natural gas in the depression had migrated and accumulated are determlined. The paper may give geochemical evidences based on which to understand natural gas prospects and plan an explorative allocation.
